Starting
the Business:
This is a great business that works well as
an add-on to the others and is very worthwhile
and profitable when done correctly. This business
will probably not give you a steady income but
can easily add several thousand to your total
annual income without too much work. Many people
even do this whilst holding down a full-time
job just to make some quite easy money. Most
importantly you need access to the sample sales
– they are not generally advertised and
instead have simple websites where you subscribe
to a mailing list, then every now and then you
get an email in your inbox with the details.
You have to
arrive early, as there are many others just
like you with the exact same intentions, so
the further up the queue you are (and there
WILL be a big queue every time) the more bargains
you will get. Our tip is to aim for the accessories
– the bags, belts, cuff links, ties, scarfs,
shoes, etc as these are always practically given
away at sample sales, sometimes leather bags
with RRPs of £150 go for £5, so
you have to be quick. Also head for the mens
suits, they are normally offered at £50-£75
when they retail for £200+ easy. If you’re
after womans clothes, go for sizes 10-12 as
they will always be the most popular.
Where
To Sell: eBay is the obvious place
to sell on your purchases from the sample sales,
but get them on there quick, because everyone
else from the sample sale will be thinking similar
thoughts. See how much they sell for with other
sellers and you should still easily make a tidy
profit even coming in around the same price
as them or undercutting them.
If
there are lots of your item on eBay currently,
hold off listing that item until there is less
competition. Remember, most auctions are only
7 days long, so simply check back every week
to see how things are looking for you.
