Work
From Home? Yes, you can run this business
from home initially, however once you start
to carry more stock you may wish to hold it
at a storage unit or employ the services of
a fulfilment company to hold the stock and send
the orders on your behalf, at that point you
only need an internet connection and computer
to forward the orders so you can be based anywhere
in the world.
Worked
Example:
White goods give a healthy margin via these
sites. We tend to avoid the DVD players and
often the TVs as there is lots of competition
for them so whilst you can still make a profit
it’s not as high with them.
Typically
you can get a fridge freezer worth £350-£400
for around £180-£200, sometimes
more, sometimes less – you just need to
watch the auctions and jump into the ones that
look like good value. They all normally come
with a 6 month warranty still, which will help
you sell it on.
Our
tip is to advertise via Gumtree.co.uk as your
first port of call. There will be much less
competition on there and you stand a better
chance of selling it for what you want. Still
consider eBay as it will not doubt sell on there,
just perhaps at a lower price. Advertise at
£260-£275 bearing in mind you may
be bartered down a little. Accept £250
and you’ve banked an easy £50.
Also
look for higher value smaller items as these
take up less space but still allow you to make
a similar profit per item. Start off selling
1 or 2 a week, making £50-£100 per
week and scale it up in your own time to the
level of income you wish. There are people making
serious money out of these sites, and they all
started out selling 1 or 2 a week at the beginning.
