Starting
the Business:
All you will need to start this business is
a camera, a computer, and an internet connection.
A little imagination can also help! You may
not be aware yet, but there are numerous very
large stock photo websites out there that now
let people upload the photographs they take
and allow them to be made available for sale
via download by paying customers.
Your
photography may then be searched using the keywords
you attach to it (so it can be found in their
search engine by people looking for a specific
type of image) and then used by people requiring
stock images for their websites, posters, business
needs, etc.
If
your photo fits what they are looking for they
will pay to download it and have the rights
to use it for their required purpose, and as
the owner of the image you then receive a small
royalty on the image that has been downloaded.
The more photos you have online and the more
varied and commercial your photos are, the greater
the chance of them being used by paying customers
and therefore the more royalties you will earn
over time.
We
like this method of income as it is very passive.
Ie. you do the hard work at the start (taking
lots of imaginative photos and uploading them
for people to see) and then just leave it to
generate money.
This
is not an overnight money-maker, but if you
are good with a camera and can take eye-catching
photos, you should create and upload a large
portfolio over time from photos taken all over
the place, adding more images whenever you can,
and over time you will start to see the regular
downloads coming in by people who like your
work and want to use it in their business, and
with each download you will of course make a
royalty that once reaching a certain amount
of money is then simply paid over automatically
into your chosen bank account.
A
great business that is very stress-relieving,
and one that once set up allows you to simply
leave it on the back-burner to add some extra
income to the pot over time.

To Sell:
Most of the major stock photo sites allow you
to set up a free account where you can then
upload your photos and portfolios, tag them
with keywords to help them get found, and leave
them to get discovered by people who will then
pay to use them.
